Landour Sunset walk, is one of the best things to do in Mussoorie.

Landour Sunset Walk

Landour Sunset Walk timing

Duration: 1.5 to 2 Hours | Difficulty – Easy | Distance 4 to 5 km | Best time to Start 3:30 pm in Summers 2:30 am winters

Attractions:

  • Witnessing the golden hour with a  crimson sunset
  • Views of the Greater Himalayas with golden effects (mostly in winters)
  • Night views of Mussoorie town and the Doon Valley
  • The winter line (visible from October to February)

Reaching the starting point for sunset:

Reaching the starting point, Char Dukan, for  Landour sunset walk is 20 min (5km) drive from Mussoorie Mall Road. Weekends or holidays it can be a bit challenging and time-consuming (20 minutes to 2 hours), especially in the afternoon when it becomes crowded and traffic increases. On weekends, this activity is not recommended unless you choose to walk from your accommodation or from Mullingar, as the road becomes too narrow after Landour Bazaar. However, if you’re staying in the stays like La-Villa Bethany, Rokevy Manor, Lights of Landour, Ivy Bank, Duma’s Inn  there’s no need to worry about reaching the spot. If you are coming from outside Landour, it’s advisable to allocate extra time

About the Walk:-

Landour sunset walk is also known as Chakkar walk and another must-do activity in Mussoorie. This walk begins at Char Dukan and proceeds towards the Language School, another junction point. To reach the sunset point, Lal Tibba, you can go via Northern face of Landour  to enjoy a more forested route with mountain views during this part of walk you can also enjoy views of snow-covered mountains, often with pink hues depending on the visibility of day, No doubt This is a scenic forested route with beautiful Deodar forest also offering breathtaking views of the Garhwal Himalayas and valleys, after Reaching Laltibba to witness the sunset you either go to top top of Laltibba cafe or walk another 200 meters taking left turn to sunset point, and witness the Crimson sun setting just behind the Mussoorie town many times in monsoon it looks like diving into the golden cloud’s like in the picture..! After enjoying the sunset, you can continue walking towards Char Dukan, this is great place to enjoy some snacks and coffee at one of the cafes.

Garhwal Himalayas View from Landour Chakkar walk in the Evening

This walk is one of the best 7 things to do in Mussoorie, when you are around, if you have one more day or leaving late morning for home you should defiantly try the Landour sunrise walk. you will not only witness the sunrise also a great view of Garhawal Himalayas as most of the time it’s clear in the Morning also you’ll get to see and listen the melody of Himalayan birds during the walk if you are doing it in months of March to June.
